Christmas in July! (Hump Day Hope and Humor)

Here’s WHY we celebrate Christmas in JULY!

What’s the origin of Christmas in July? Simple: because seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are pretty much the opposite of those in the Northern Hemisphere, summer for countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Argentina falls in December, January and February. For these southern hemisphere countries, winter falls in June, July and August. Although these countries still celebrate Christmas on December 25 along with the rest of the world, they’ve decided to hold “Christmas” events in July, also — in order to take advantage of the festive feel their own winter months can add to the holiday. Of course, here in the northern hemisphere, especially here in America, we don’t have that excuse. It’s hot here! But who needs an excuse to celebrate the birth of Christ the Savior? Not us! Most of us would celebrate Christmas year-round — if we could get away with it. Now, who wants some eggnog?

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 King James Bible)

So, what’s all this stuff about angels?

So, what’s all this stuff about angels?

Throughout Biblical times God used an army of celestial beings to make special announcements, and to minister to His people on earth. These supernatural beings frequently visited our mortal world in the guise of strangers traveling along the dusty byways of life.

God’s Heavenly Messengers are universally known today as angels. But in a manner of speaking, we’re all God’s “Heavenly Messengers” here on earth: we all have a story to tell, an experience to relate, a testimony to share; and, like His celestial band of servants, the Creator of the Universe wants each of us to be a Godly emissary of His supernatural love. He wants each of us to follow in the footsteps of His Son Jesus Christ, through a lifestyle of giving, serving, encouraging, and … sharing the Words of Life!

Couple this truth with the knowledge that God created each of us in His own image — thus placing within our hearts a precious spark of the divine — and it’s easy to conclude that … in a manner of speaking … we are all God’s angels in this life!

Tom & Wilma currently have three books in print, The Heart of an Angel: Becoming God’s Messengers of Love and Hospitality to a World in Need, Angel in the Kitchen: Truth & Wisdom Inspired by Food, Cooking, Kitchen Tools and Appliances!, and Diet for Dreamers: Inspiration to Feed Your Dreams, Encouragement to Foster Your Creativity! A fourth book, Spiritual Boot Camp for Creators & Dreamers, is scheduled for publication in September, 2017.
